Welcome to Geo's Place
Step out of the rain and come on in. George is already at the piano taking requests. The band is getting ready to play. Don't be shy, feel free to sit in and play a number.

About the music selections George plays under the "Request a song " drop down:

Cold Duck Time and Straight No Chaser was recorded live October '09 in Concord at the Old South Bar-B-Que. The Trio includes myself on Keys (RD 700 GX), Ken Caton (bass) and Pete Riso (drums). Gerry Blalock Video taped us and I caught the audio using my trustee Edirol R-09HR (a handy digital recorder). I added the weird "special effects" using Windows Movie Maker.

Beatrice was recorded at the Brentwood Art, Wine and Jazz festival in October '08. The Band included myself on Keys (RD 700 GX), Bob Johnson (sax), Paul Bodakian (bass) and Achyutan (drums). Camera work was done by our friends Roy and Lyn Sorvari and family.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow is a George Shearing interpretation. Get the (PDF) sheet music [here].

Polka dots and Moonbeams was inspired by a Bud Powell arrangement I heard many years ago. Many of the voicing's is utilizing the "drop two" method. In other words, "drop" the 2nd note from the top of your right hand voicing to the bottom (or bass) note of your left hand.

Everything Happens to Me a nice little tune where some stride comes in handy.
